Patterson Companies — Webfonts ———————————————————— BRAND FONT: proxima-nova (Adobe Fonts / Typekit) — the exact face pattersondental.com & pattersonvet.com render, from kit rul6mjk. font-family on the live sites: proxima-nova, Arial, sans-serif. Self-hosted here from the licensed Typekit files supplied by the brand team. Weights were verified by canvas advance-width measurement: - proxima-nova-400.woff2 normal 400 (regular) - proxima-nova-700.woff2 normal 700 (bold — ~4% wider) - proxima-nova-italic.woff2 italic 400 Bold-italic is synthesized by the browser from the 700 face. >>> IMPORTANT — ONLY 400 AND 700 ARE REAL <<< The official kit (assets/fonts/typekit-rul6mjk.css, published 2024-08-01) serves exactly four faces: n4, i4, n7, i7. There is no 500, 600 or 800 face in the Patterson Proxima Nova license. The production theme nevertheless declares font-weight: 800 on h1/h2, 600 on .btn and 500 on .eyebrow — so those are rendered by the browser as SYNTHESIZED (faux) bold off the 700 master. Consequence for this system: treat 700 as the real bold ceiling. --fw-extra (800) is retained only to reproduce production output faithfully; it does not correspond to a licensed face. If genuine heavier weights are wanted, additional Proxima Nova variations must be added to the Typekit kit first. To load the fonts from Adobe instead of the self-hosted copies, swap the @font-face blocks below for: @import url(‘../assets/fonts/typekit-rul6mjk.css’); (that file is the verbatim kit CSS and requires network access.) NOTE: these are licensed Adobe Fonts binaries, provided by the user for use within this brand’s properties. FALLBACK is “Figtree” (closest free Google match) → system sans, used only if a face fails to load. Do NOT alias a different family to the ‘proxima-nova’ name.
